Configurable Privacy with Auditor Access

Rings allow you to configure privacy:
  • Anonymity – encrypt counterparties and balances
  • Confidentiality – only encrypt balances with visible counterparties.
In any case, you retain auditor access with a view key and and can meet regulatory requirements through selective disclosure.
Confidential and Anonymous Rings with auditor access. The public view of the Confidential Ring shows the sender and recipient while hiding asset and amount. The Anonymous Ring hides all four fields. Both Rings retain auditor visibility.
To achieve privacy, Rings use and zero-knowledge proofs to verify that transactions are valid without revealing that data. This technology used for privacy-preserving tools was also highlighted by SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins in his December 15, 2025 remarks:
“…this technology allows for privacy-preserving tools that the analog world could not provide, such as zero-knowledge proofs, selective disclosure, and wallet designs that allow users to prove compliance without handing over their entire financial history…”
